Flash Point by Pensky-Martens Closed Cup Tester
Applicability: EPA Method 1010A is used to determine the flash point of liquids, including those that tend to form a surface film or contain non-filterable solids. It’s one of two methods (the other being Method 1020) required by the EPA to assess the ignitability characteristic of hazardous waste. This method helps determine if a liquid waste is considered ignitable (having a flash point below 60°C or 140°F) under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).
Purpose: Method 1010A helps determine if a liquid waste is ignitable, which is a characteristic that can classify it as a hazardous waste.
