Iron in Trace Quantities Using the 1,10-Phenanthroline Method
Applicability: ASTM E394 is a standard test method for determining trace quantities of iron using the 1,10-phenanthroline method. It is applicable to a wide range of products where iron needs to be measured in the range of 1 to 100 µg/g (ppm). The method is particularly useful for testing aqueous solutions, industrial chemicals, metallurgical samples, and environmental matrices, especially in high-purity materials where trace iron levels can significantly impact product quality.
Purpose: The purpose of this method is to quantify trace amounts of iron (1-100 μg) in various materials.
