Chemical Analysis of Caustic Soda and Caustic Potash (Sodium Hydroxide and Potassium Hydroxide)

Applicability: ASTM E291 is a standard test method for the chemical analysis of caustic soda and caustic potash. It is applicable to 50% and 73% caustic soda liquors, and 45% caustic potash liquors, as well as the anhydrous forms of both (solid, flake, ground, or powdered).

Purpose: ASTM E291 provides procedures for determining properties like alkalinity, carbonate, chloride, iron, and sulfate content to verify quality and suitability for intended uses.
