Ferrous Iron in Iron Oxides
Applicability: ASTM D3872 is a standard test method for determining the amount of ferrous iron (FeO) in iron oxides. It’s applicable to synthetic and natural black iron oxides, magnetite, and brown iron oxides where some of the iron is present in the ferrous state. This includes materials where the ferrous iron content ranges from 50% to 0.20%.
Purpose: The primary goal of ASTM D3872 is to quantitatively determine the amount of ferrous oxide (FeO) present in iron oxide samples.
