Ball-Pan Hardness of Activated Carbon

Applicability: ASTM D3802 is a standard test method for determining the ball-pan hardness of granular activated carbons, a measure of their resistance to particle size degradation under service conditions, using a specific ball-pan apparatus and procedure.

Purpose:ASTM D3802 provides a standardized procedure to assess the hardness of granular activated carbons, which is important for understanding their durability and performance in various applications. The test method applies to granular activated carbons, defined as those where 90% or more of the particles are larger than 80 mesh (180 µm).
