Forms of Sulfur in Coal
Applicability: This procedure applies to the determination of sulfate, sulfur, and pyritic sulfur in coal, soil, rock, etc. in order to determine if it is suitable for its intended use at Conti Testing Laboratories, Inc. (CTL), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Purpose: The purpose of this test method is to provide for a separation of sulfur into two commonly recognized forms: pyritic and sulfate. Organic sulfur is calculated by difference. The results obtained by the test method are used to serve a number of different interests.
