Ash in Wood

Applicability: This procedure applies to the determination of ash expressed as the percentage of residue remaining after dry oxidation (oxidation at 580 to 600°C) of wood or wood products received or generated by Conti Testing Laboratories, Inc. (CTL), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Purpose: The purpose of this procedure is to provide a method of determination of the mineral content and other inorganic matter in a wood sample by determining the weight loss of the sample after drying and burning.
