Liquid-Solid Partitioning as a Function of Liquid-to-Solid Ratio in Solid Materials Using a Parallel Batch Procedure

Applicability: EPA Method 1316, a Leaching Environmental Assessment Framework (LEAF) method, is a parallel batch extraction procedure designed to determine the liquid-solid partitioning (LSP) of inorganic and non-volatile organic constituents in solid materials as a function of liquid-to-solid ratio (L/S) under conditions approaching liquid-solid chemical equilibrium.

Purpose: Method 1316 aims to characterize the leaching potential of solid materials by determining how much of a given constituent dissolves into a liquid phase (eluate) at different L/S ratios.
