Standard Test Method for Total Fluorine, Chlorine and Sulfur in Aromatic Hydrocarbons and Their Mixtures by Oxidative Pyrohydrolytic Combustion followed by Ion Chromatography Detection (Combustion Ion Chromatography-CIC)
Applicability: ASTM D7359 is applicable for determining the total fluorine, chlorine, and sulfur content in aromatic hydrocarbons and their mixtures. It’s specifically designed for samples containing between 0.10 and 50 mg/kg of each element. The method utilizes oxidative pyrohydrolytic combustion followed by ion chromatography detection (CIC).
Purpose: ASTM D7359 is used to measure the levels of fluorine, chlorine, and sulfur in aromatic hydrocarbons. These elements are important because they can affect the performance, compatibility, and environmental impact of these materials.
