Standard Test Method for Total Fluorine in Coal by the Oxygen Bomb Combustion/Ion Selective Electrode Method
Applicability: ASTM D3761, titled “Standard Test Method for Total Fluorine in Coal by the Oxygen Bomb Combustion/Ion Selective Electrode Method,” was used to determine the total fluorine content in coal samples. The method was applicable to coals containing 25% ash or less. It was withdrawn in 2019 due to the lack of a Precision and Bias statement.
Purpose: The primary purpose is to measure the amount of fluorine in coal samples, which is relevant for assessing potential fluorine emissions during coal combustion.
