Carbon Black—Iodine Adsorption Number

Applicability: ASTM D1510 defines the standard test method for determining the iodine adsorption number of carbon black, typically in mg/g, to characterize its surface area and aggregate size. It is widely used for quality control in the rubber and carbon black industries, with Method A (manual) and Method B (automated).

Purpose: The purpose of ASTM D1510 is to measure the surface area of carbon black, which is generally in agreement with nitrogen surface area measurements.
