Hardness, Total, Sequential Titration Method with EDTA
Applicability: The Hach Method 8338, also known as the Hardness, Total, Sequential Titration Method with EDTA, is designed for the measurement of total hardness (primarily calcium and magnesium) in water, wastewater, and seawater.
Purpose: This method is particularly useful for determining the levels of calcium and magnesium hardness individually, as the method involves a sequential titration procedure where the first titration gives results for calcium hardness, and the second titration yields total hardness, allowing the difference to indicate magnesium hardness.
