Total Residue by Drying Oven

Applicability: EPA Method 160.3 is used to determine Total Residue (Total Solids) in water and wastewater samples. This method involves evaporating a known volume or weight of a sample and then drying the residue in an oven at 103-105°C to determine the total amount of solid material remaining after evaporation.

Purpose: The method’s primary goal is to quantify the total amount of solid material present in a water or wastewater sample after evaporation and drying.
