Sieve Analysis and Size Designation of Coal

Applicability: This procedure is applicable to all types of coal, except for pulverized coals, ores, aggregates, and other solid materials that require sieving and analysis by Conti Testing Laboratories, Inc. (CTL), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The method applies to dry sieving of coal at sizes from 200 mm to 38 μm.

Purpose: The purpose of this procedure is to sieve coal into designated size fractions to characterize the material as to its particle size distribution for further characterization or for commercial use.
